PARIS FASHION WEEK

Paris Fashion Week was held this month and in true Parisian pull and form- they were years ahead of American Fashion....the likes of Chanel, the works of Phoebe Philo, YSL, Valentino, Chloe and Miu Miu were some of the few that showcased their new Spring/Summer 2012 collections but most fashionable featured from bold and structured looks to the dainty and demure..femininely whimsical to the geometric and galant...Check out my fave looks and see if you can figure out who designed what piece..

My Spring Summer Must Haves include: pastel shorts, a neutral oversized comfortable knit overlay sweater, wideleg linen pants, one piece preferably a dress in cornflower blue, a fluid and flowy maxi skirt with accordion pleats which I feel I can find vintage or thrift and some more tie tops...

HOW WILL I LOOK FOR HALLOWEEN?

Ok so this year I have gone back and forth on what or who I will be for Halloween...Three years ago I was a tiger....then a black panther/ Rihanna from Run this Town....then Teyana Taylor/Ciara....notice any patterns...yeah I have a tendency to be bi-polar or a schizophrenic every year being two people because my indecisive ass can never decide and this year proves to be no different...A few months back I thought about being Rihanna again- but this year the RED HEAD version...however I have a feeling that just like Nicki Minaj last year and with the release of her new video- there will be alot of "RIHANNAS-REVIVED" rummaging their wanna be ragged asses around town...so this year I decided to take a different approach and pay homage to the my two hotties of the past....my childhood crushes Prince and Michael Jackson...How might you ask?...Well I would like to be either Naomi Campbell Circa "IN THE CLOSET"  Days as a MJ video girl or Appolonia from Purple Rain and of Vanity 6 Fame  OR  Dirty Diana...Now yes no one has ever seen Dirty Diana except for the small glimpse you get of her in the limo in the final scene of the video dressed in all black...anyhow....check out these looks and tell me what you think

IM COMING HOME: WHAT TO WEAR TO HOMECOMING

So as a proud alumni of Texas State University and current graduate student- I always look forward to Homecoming- an opportunity to reunite with the "old heads" and kick it with the "new kids on the block" in the quad persay. And this year will be no difference. With a schedule of events occuring in the craziness of the Texas weather that is sure to lead to nothing to pure shenanigans- everyone should be prepared on the fashion forefront whether tailgating or shaking a tail feather at the nightly festivities and here's a few looks to make sure you are nothing but fierce...So I've selected mood boards that represent every collegiate on the campus..Each one of these looks has the ability to translate from day to night when you take one of the statement pieces and pair with flat boots, brogues or ballet flats and denim

SOMETHING'S HAPPENING HERE....BUT ONLY IF WE LET IT

Ok so yes my world does revolve around all things fashion and my industry is connected with the frivolous and the faux... and pretentious and the pretty... the mindless muse...basically people who only think with the right side of their brain and are unaware to those things that affect the world on the daily...and this could NOT be more further from the truth...at least not in Domoland and let's face it- you all want to live there anyway....I digress as usual...take this article for instance- I found it compelling and even motivating enough to break the status quo....it has absolutely nothing to do with fashion...yet everything to do with fashion lol...read it and tell me your thoughts

http://www.nytimes.com/2011/10/12/opinion/theres-something-happening-here.html

In my opinion you can NEVER replace the power, work ethic, social and emotional connection of the individual and I do agree "SOMETHING'S HAPPENING HERE"...but only if we allow it to...our generation has the where with all and God given ability to obtain and achieve all the things that past generations believed that we couldn't and future generations will need

LOVE ON TOP

"Now everybody ask me while I smiling out from ear to ear....but I know"

Ok I know....I know...I know....as of lately my blogs have featured the beauty and her beastly talent of course I'm referring to Beyonce.... but what can I say her musical and fashion influence can been everywhere...and Beyonce even with her perfect pregancy bump has definitely shown no signs of slowing down with the release of her latest video- LOVE ON TOP...As the true definition of a diva she always delivers a performance of perfection and tackled this track with a tribute to boy bands of the past ala New Edition: The Bobby Brown Years...sorry Johnny..As if the dancing was divine enough- the fashion was more than fierce it was fire....the background boytoys began in basic dance gear and my eyes couldn't escape the SHIRTLESS guy on the far left end and then there was the star of the show- Queen B of course- busting moves in her signature basic black bodysuit, big military inspired hat with flair, black fishnets and boots...as the song changes octaves so does the fashion with B and the boys breaking it down in some of the most bold and beautiful suiting...the gentlemen looked gorgeous and galant in their grey suiting...but I don't know which suit I loved more on Beyonce- the first soft golden look with big and bold black lapels, the white and black double breasted or the fierce and finale look of black and beaded detail that transformed into a shortsuit?? They were alllll so awesomely tailored to perfection...but as you all know in my eyes she can do no wrong and Beyonce coulda worn a paper bag and I would have though girlllll you better work that BROWN BAG...but everyone knows how I feel about women in menswear- the mix of masculinity and feminity is nothing short of magical when combined with uber confidence...But check it out and tell me what you think cuz you clearly already know my thoughts

COUNTDOWN BY BEYONCE: Trying to Make a 3...From That 2...Cuz you the 1

Ok so I dont get what the big deal is about this chick Beyonce....ok so im done lying and have put down the bottle of booze...last night the mommy to be played homage the Mod era with a simplistic yet sass tribute to the sixties in the premiere of her new video Countdown from her latest album, 4...this perfect primadonna proved that pregnancy places no bounds on busting a move as she put on a show for all her fans....but really are we...can we be surprised...when it comes to Queen B you shouldnt expect anything less than the best..the fans even crashed the site trying to sick their claws to see what creativity she would hit us with next...and your highness was haute in every scene from the fluorescent bodysuits with a wide brimmed flophat to the basic beatnik black look in the beginning and I for one loved her in the classic black Bobs that was very a la Supremes....all and all Countdown was captivating and definitely worth the wait and if you don't believe me click the video below and "CHECK UP ON IT"

N***** IN PARIS- LITERALLY

"Couture level flow, it’s never going on sale
Luxury rap, the Hermes of verses
Sophisticated ignorance, write my curses in cursive
I get it custom, you a customer
You ain’t ‘customed to going through Customs, you ain’t been nowhere, huh?"
-KANYE WEST "OTIS"
Yep that's right Wake Up Mr.West Wake up Mr.West! Designing ain't as easy as you thought huh?
That's right- all the hooplah behind Kanye West Spring/Summer 2012 Collection entitled DW after his late beloved mother Donda West continues. Ye put on a display at this year's Paris Fashion Week in high style with some high profile models including Chanel Iman and Jourdan Dunn. Now many wonder...okkkk maybe 2 people wonder how I feel about Kanye's new line. First off let me give this man credit for having the testes to tackle such a tenacious task of creating a collection let alone showcasing it at Paris FW which lets face it is always 2 years ahead of NYFW. There are designers such as myself who would only dream of such a distinct privilege and honor. Secondly for a man who is always under such scrutiny for his unpredicable behavior to STUDY fashion- YES people Kanye enrolled into design school is very very commendable considering there are so many "celebrity designers" in the world attaching themselves and their names to garments that they had no hand in accept for saying "the colors pretty"....as usual I digress...back to Kanyeezy
So after perusing the line for a 2nd time just to get a closer look I will admit that the 1st time I wasn't completely 100% sold on every piece-but Kanye definitely shows promise and potential. Just in my opinion I would have scaled down on the size of the fur just a bit...decreased the spacing of the plunging necklines and added a few more pieces of the orange and deep ocean blue hues because we all know that Kanye isn't afraid of a little color...I think women look great in oversized clothing when the proportions are perfect because its almost like wearing your boyfriends' clothing and what girl doesn't love that feeling..However if your boyfriend is a 270 lb. Kanye look alike then NOT SO MUCH....
Overall Kanye gets a B+ from me because he did the unthinkable and made your girl fall in love with the idea of wearing all white and an all white collection for that matter. I would wear every single one of Kanye's white, beige and ecru pieces were so AMAZING....so AMAZING...and no matter what they'll never take that from you my man..So go back to that drawing board and can't wait to see what you create next. Take a look and tell me what you think!!!
