2012 Golden Globes Recap

So award season is well underway and I must say by my first glimpse at the 2012 Golden Globes- these leading ladies did not leave me underwhelmed. I had to peruse the web for all the wonderful looks but it was well worth it They came out the gate looking gorgeous as ever and reminding me why I not only love fashion but the art that is eveningwear. Here's a look at my top picks for the evening

HITS:

Lea Michele left me in liquid metal love wearing my favorite eveningwear designer to date- Marchesa by Georgina Chapman, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Jimmy Choo Shoes

The saucy Sofia Vergara is a custom Vera Wang

Salma Hayek as always- sizzled in a black and gold art deco Gucci gown with a matching clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry

Julianna Margulies was magical in this deep and dusted rustic purple gown by Naeem Khan offset with her green toned jeweled earrings

I melted when I saw Maria Menuonos shine  in this orange sequin columned Blumarine gown

She usually leaves me pondering her presence but this year I was taken back by Tilda Swinton and her look...I must say head to toe from color to cut and even overcoat- FLAWLESS

Never have I seen Laura Dern look so darling and demure with a dash of diva as she did tonight and I'm a sucker for sequins and beading...this Andrew NG gown gave me life

Viola Davis was va-va-va-voom in this perfect plum number by none other than my other favorite designer Emilio Pucci. With skin like butter and that bold thigh high slit- she wins my vote for BEST DRESSED!!

MISSES:

Reese Witherspoon is usually always red carpet ready but this year she disappointed me. Her hair looked disheveled and the dress with all of its wrinkles was less that demure. Major miss

Evan Rachel Wood looks rather scaly in this green number-the silhouette was flattering however the details made her resemble swamp thing...

Poor Amy Poehler that's all I can say...no woman is shaped like a rectangle so we should never dress ourselves like one

And noooo Zooey noooo...it looks like an art project gone wrong

As attractive as she is- that middle seam down the front of her dress is not- it looks awkward but Naya Rivera is gorgeous nonetheless

COLOR COUTURE:
The color of the evening was definitely softer hues of nude and champagne with Jessica Biel in a long sleeved Elie Saab

Kristen Wiig of Bridesmaids was blushing in her nude piece

The always statuesque Nicole Kidman wowed the other women in Versace and from the looks of it she was definitely wearing a sample size...go girl

Charlize Theron in Dior Couture was very unorthodox but originally fabulous
