PRABALLY...PRABALLY NOT: The Prabal Gurung Collection For Target

Yeah yeah yeah its been awhile since I blogged but I must do so when I feel led....these moments just happen to coincide when the couturiers come together in collective harmony to bring us....drum roll please FASHION WEEK of course...so don't be surprised if I tend to come out to play in September and the month of Valentine's Day...Februrary of course

Anyhow- in lieu of the luxury that is fashion and fashion week...big box retailer- Target has done it again with the launch of the Prabal Gurung collection. Released this past Sunday- February 10th at Targets nationwide- I found myself a frolicking into my local store immediately following church (still sick earache, nausea and all)

FASCRIFICES PEOPLE FASCRIFICES!

Shoes, small handbags, separates and dresses create a cohesive closet makeover for our designer on a dime divas who love a good deal. The collection consisted of fabulous prints entitled "FLORAL CRUSH", "NOLITA", "DRESDEN BLUE" and "MEET THE PARENTS". Now we know select items only show up at certain stores so I decided to show you all the Denton locations HIT MISSES AND MUST-HAVES

The Lace-Up Pump in "Meet the Parent" Print for $39.99
RATE: MISS
this shoe is not for those who are flat-footed or wide-footed
i.e. my BIG foot ass couldn't comfortably fit a 10...it has no support and the tie straps will
cause you to lose all circulation- conceptually cute though

The Classic Pump in "Nolita" Print for $39.99
RATE: HIT
This shoe is an awesome accent shoe for any fashionista who wants to be bold but not too busy.
A pointed toe makes a comeback this year and elongates the leg- not that I
need any help in that area ;). Only issue yet again was the fit being pretty narrow

The White and Mesh Top $19.99
RATE: MISS
And only cause the DAMN back button wouldn't open and the shirt is extremely thin...again another cool concept missing classic and creative/nouveau but for me its a NO-GO

The Print Dress in "First Date" $34.99
RATE: ????
I didn't LOVE or HATE this look. The only drawback on this dress was the fit- I am wearing an X-Small and gripping it in the back
which means that it will fit an array of body shapes and the ruffled hem definitely makes the look
fun and flirty

NOW FOR FULL COLLECTIONS:

NOLITA:

The "T-shirt"- $19.99
RATE: HIT
This shirt is extremely comfortable and the sleeves fit...enough said damnit!

The "Lace Blouse and Skirt" Look- Blouse: $34.99 Skirt: $24.99
RATE: MISS
This damn shirt ain't worth $35 yeah I said it- the collar is cheap and the sizing is totally off- the length and the volume of the skirt is totally off- another cute concept with poor execution in my opinion

The "Shirt-Dress" $39.99
RATE: MISS
As much as I love shirtdresses and wanted to LOVEEEEE this look-I would if I was going to bed
and looking forward to some crazy ass psychedelic dream- this dress is meant to be loose however the sleeves and pocket made me feel like I was about to HIT the sack-WEARING a sack

FLORAL CRUSH:

The "Tee"- $19.99
RATE: HIT
Same as the Nolita and this like that one can be dressed up or down...nothing easier than
denim and a tee especially when its dainty

The "Peplum"- $29.99
RATE: HIT
Now we all know peplums are very popular this Spring season and this one has so much
definition for the dollar that I had to give it a thumbs up. You can dress it up with a black or solid colored skirt or down with denim as seen above. The zipper is exposed and it comes in sizes 2-14

The "Printed Short"- $26.99
RATE: ????
Another piece that I wanted to love but the fit of these shorts was just off- however I did try on a size up since they were down to 4 in inventory- so I could be the problem- not the shorts- either way they get an "ehhh"

The "DayDress"- $49.99
RATE: HIT
I absolutely LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVEEEE this dress...the length, the print, the fullness of the skirt, the high-neck, the exposed zipper AND it has POCKETS...this dress is sheer perfection and provides every principle element of a Prabal Gurung piece

*MUST-HAVE*

The "Blazer" -$49.99
RATE: HIT
Its no coincedence that this is called a blazer cause its on PURE FIYAH....I have always been a sucka for the simplicity and subtly of a blazer and its ability to transform any look with a simple layer. This print is not only playful but the length is lovely and the placement of the pockets near the long lapel and frontal hip are giving me a pure fashion fallout.

This is definitely not the entire collection just the pret a porter pieces I could get my pretty little hands on for the day of the release. I plan on purchasing a few online and for my fashionistas and amateuristas who are unaware of the genius of Prabal Gurung- let me leave you with a little bit about my boy toy wonder
