GET IT WHITE, GET IT TIGHT....SPRING 2011 TREND

Ok so many of my friends know that I am so not a fan of white- not because its not an awesome hue whether in its many variants or shades such as snow white, eggshell, winter white, pure white or even beige, creme etc. However I am not a fan of the upkeep of the color. Maybe it stems from the many pouts from the back in the day pressures where my mother forced my sisters and I to wear white to church EVERY SINGLE FIRST SUNDAY...I mean we wore white dresses with white shoes, white opaque stockings and even white slips. I felt like one brush against anything would lead to disaster. Needless to say when I became "GROWN" the only pieces of white in my closet you would find were a couple of basic white tanks and tees.

And don't even get me started on the infamy and blasphemy- that is the WHITE shoe...I have searched high and low and have yet to find one worth my wad of cash and coins

But with that being said the ways of white have created a rather real awakening as a major trend for Spring 2011 and I have found that when flowy and whimsical- this colors actually works if worn the right and tight way

So there it is my picks for perfection regarding this upcoming weekend- but remember its first about how you feel on the inside. Allow that to determine your personal style whether its avant garde or meek & mild.

Disclaimer: if you are over the age of 21 and caught in these infamous imposter Jordan heels this weekend- you will be cited and a fashion police officer of the law will escort you to the nearest alley for arraignment. Under 21 sadly many of you know no better so I will let you make it...ehh probably not

SO COCO SATURDAYS: GETTIN CUTE & CUTTIN IT UP AT ANN'S

Its another So Coco Saturday- that's right features and posts about all things surrounding Coco DeVeReaux thatn are just so Coco Fabulous.

So many people know that it has been years since my head has been touched and teased by a professional hair-stylist and many have asked me why?.....that is because I trust very few femmes with the frays that frame my face....chock it up to bad experiences, unprofessionalism, breaking my bank...a number of things- but all in all I felt like no one knew better how I wanted my hair done than me....I even embarked upon my natural hair journey about 2 1/2 years ago with the BIG CHOP & felt like there was no professional locally I could turn to -to take care of my cute crown without my wanting to cut them down like a cypress should they freak up my fro'

Anyhow- it was not until recently when I modeled in a fashion show and met the dynamic duo of Delmicia Joy and Amour Davidson. These two ladies turned my face and coif out out and needless to say left me more than pleased.

Fast forward a month and here I was in Delmicia's haute hands again receiveing a ravishingly radiant red dye color at her new salonship with local Austin
salon Ann's Private Cuts owned by Miss Ann Gosey and located off of Braker Lane.

This salon was awesome y'all and you all know how particular I am about my look- as avant garde and abstract at times it may be...I am... but these ladies locked it down. I watched Miss Ann cut and create 1000 clients under 3 hours (more like 12) but still I had never been so amazed. Her staff continually cleaned the salon and kept the clients engaged in the hair process even continually asking if I was ok. They offered to hang up my jacket and put away my Betsey bag  and while many make think that this is just basic customer service- babbbbyyy you would be surprised by the lack there of I have witnessed in the past.

They offered deep conditioning treatments & were extremely professional while remaining true to the cool kick back culture that we all know sister girl salons offer. It made me miss the coif camaraderie of the salon watching all the ladies buzz about getting beautified. I can say that Ann's Private Cuts along with Delmicia will definitely get my business and recommendations to my friends.

If you didn't notice Delmicia was also featured in a previous post for making me oh so pretty and helping me find the perfect nude pout....She is the creative director behind DIVA CREATIONS and the girl stands for what she believes in- ensuring that her clients leave her hands feeling beautiful inside and out & your girl Coco DeVeReaux definitely did

That's what makes ANN'S PRIVATE CUTS & DELMICIA- SOOOOOOO COCO!!!

Domo

MARCH MADNESS: SXSW STYLE RECAP

As March comes to end- I wanted to recap some of the fabulousness of the fashions that caught my eye during this year's 25th Annual South by Southwest Musical Festival here in Austin. Only at SXSW can you catch the coolest bands showcasing whether independent or represented by major labels.

While awaiting for the highly anticipated Sucka Free Show by the one and only Snoop Dogg held at the Pepsi Max Venue at 3rd & San Jacinto, I spotted an undeniably adorable pair of friends. I loved everything about their look from lady on the left's lipstick red mini to her lovely lady friend's billowy blouse and coordinating canvas kicks- topped off with their chinese cut and whimsical bangs
This guy grabbed my attention with his garage band inspired garb and self-embellished 80's washed denim jacket complete with studs and chains and spikes that he all placed himself. I absolutely adored his geometric stoned necklace for an added edge
This doll was a definite headturner and photographer that I met at the Hip Hop DJ sets Friday Night at Suite 101. I lusted for every piece of her pret a porter from her fringed and flowy earrings, crossbody bag which is definitely on trend for Spring and printed leggings with booties. Let's not forget that au natural coif that crowned her head

This was finally the end of SXSW on a Sunday- I found this mother of 2 grown children with the most flattering figure that I could see even beneath this beautifully bold colored trapeze dress. She later informed me that it was a "JUST BECAUSE" gift from BCBG given to her by her hubby. Talk about love- another definite trend this Spring is colorblocking and this honeysuckle & haute pink number is definitely nouveau

And the fabulous finale/pie de resistance was when yours truly ran into the fashion aficienado himself, Mr. Fonzworth Bentley post the Bun B and Erykah Badu showcase. Her was so alluring in his downplayed yet dapper digs- a far cry from his usual suited and booted look. He definitely left me enamored with his effortless style while on the search for his good friend, Erykah Badu.

All in all the fashions of SXSW were simply fabulous and I can't wait until next year's festival for more fashion and music fun
