2012 Golden Globes Recap

So award season is well underway and I must say by my first glimpse at the 2012 Golden Globes- these leading ladies did not leave me underwhelmed. I had to peruse the web for all the wonderful looks but it was well worth it They came out the gate looking gorgeous as ever and reminding me why I not only love fashion but the art that is eveningwear. Here's a look at my top picks for the evening

HITS:

Lea Michele left me in liquid metal love wearing my favorite eveningwear designer to date- Marchesa by Georgina Chapman, Lorraine Schwartz jewels and Jimmy Choo Shoes

The saucy Sofia Vergara is a custom Vera Wang

Salma Hayek as always- sizzled in a black and gold art deco Gucci gown with a matching clutch and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry

Julianna Margulies was magical in this deep and dusted rustic purple gown by Naeem Khan offset with her green toned jeweled earrings

I melted when I saw Maria Menuonos shine  in this orange sequin columned Blumarine gown

She usually leaves me pondering her presence but this year I was taken back by Tilda Swinton and her look...I must say head to toe from color to cut and even overcoat- FLAWLESS

Never have I seen Laura Dern look so darling and demure with a dash of diva as she did tonight and I'm a sucker for sequins and beading...this Andrew NG gown gave me life

Viola Davis was va-va-va-voom in this perfect plum number by none other than my other favorite designer Emilio Pucci. With skin like butter and that bold thigh high slit- she wins my vote for BEST DRESSED!!

MISSES:

Reese Witherspoon is usually always red carpet ready but this year she disappointed me. Her hair looked disheveled and the dress with all of its wrinkles was less that demure. Major miss

Evan Rachel Wood looks rather scaly in this green number-the silhouette was flattering however the details made her resemble swamp thing...

Poor Amy Poehler that's all I can say...no woman is shaped like a rectangle so we should never dress ourselves like one

And noooo Zooey noooo...it looks like an art project gone wrong

As attractive as she is- that middle seam down the front of her dress is not- it looks awkward but Naya Rivera is gorgeous nonetheless

COLOR COUTURE:
The color of the evening was definitely softer hues of nude and champagne with Jessica Biel in a long sleeved Elie Saab

Kristen Wiig of Bridesmaids was blushing in her nude piece

The always statuesque Nicole Kidman wowed the other women in Versace and from the looks of it she was definitely wearing a sample size...go girl

Charlize Theron in Dior Couture was very unorthodox but originally fabulous

Who made your top picks or misses? Leave a comment and let me know

I'M GONNA MAKE YOU LOVE ME

See it was about some odd years ago 3rd grade to be exact when I met this young girl with a twinkle in her eye. The name of a star you could not deny. I mean the girl has 5...yes 5 names...only stars/celebrities have 5 names...Here I was the new kid yet again attending my 5th Elementary school trying to find some kind of friend, looking for kids to it in yet everyone seemed to flock to this femme fatale. Even at our young age I knew she would be something- I guess I was experiencing that same feeling that all of Beyonce's classmates felt watching that cocoon emerge into a beautiful butterfly. I always wanted to befriend this girl and really didn't know how because I wasn't the best at making friends always being the aforementioned "NEW GIRL".

Years went on and we ended up at the same middle school- it was in these years when our bond became true blue as we both fell in love with theatre and became fellow thespians. From school plays (The Infamous Soothing System of Prof Maillard), small sleepovers at her mom's apartment and grandmother's house- I felt like I had someone- a friend that truly tried to understand all the craziness that my mind would create. High school came and like young girls get- time passed and we went our separate ways but who would have thought about these latter days....when our paths would cross again and I found my friend....this girl...this star...the epitome of all things fabulous...an undeniable drive....dream girl and Supreme...with the tagline of  "I'M GONNA MAKE YOU LOVE ME" and damnit has she....she's amazingly talented and her spirit is infectious...with a determination and heart as big as Texas....the next "BIG THING" to fulfill that "IT GIRL" gap and definitely put Austin, Texas on the map....so I say to the world...get ready for my girl

As the year comes to end and we gather with family and friends- the invites for those special nights begin to come in left and right...whether its a Christmas Party or New Year's Eve night- we all want to look our best and outside of the "resort" season- holiday wear is my favorite season to shop because its the one time where you can bedazzle like a disco ball and no one can judge you- or at least I don't....so here are a few fun pieces that I believe are the best

1. Lowback and Sequins- for those who love to look back to see if the crowd is watching you walk away
2. Leather and lace- which can translate well for ANY AGE
3. Shimmer and Shine- for the ladies who love a little sparkle
4. Colorblocking- continues to translate in every season
5. Short and Sassy- shorts for the ladies with the gorgeous gams
6. The Tuxedo- it allows you to be trendy yet still tasteful

All of these looks (Lto R) can be found on Victoria's Secret.com

1. The Basic Black Beauty- with a lil character and perfect with any style of dress
2. Colorblocking- cont' into footwear
3. The Perfect Red- can make a solid ensemble or a black and white look really pop
4. Texture- a lil pizazz to your clothing pieces
5. The Nicety of Nude- you can never go wrong
6. The Black Boot- this is very basic or can be bold but you can get creative with how crazy your look can be

I DON'T WANT ALOT FOR CHRISTMAS..JUST THESE 25 THINGS...HAHAHA

Ummm so yeah every year around this time my mother asks what would I like for Christmas and everytime I say nothing- just my family happily together...and while that is true....everyone has a wish list that if they could snap their fingers and Santa appeared- they'd have a mile long list to share...I thought I'd share 25 things I'd love for the 25 days of Christmas....so here's a few that I would love to see underneath my Christmas tree...

All the items above are clothing of course- from Betsey Johnson to Victoria's Secret- including the floral footwear by Colin Stuart for Victoria's Secret

Next are all of the accessories I could stand including 5,000 watches and a handbag from Michael Kors , the latest Bird Bag by Marc Jacobs, silver jewelry set from Tiffany and Co. and luggage from Victoria's Secret

And all the electronics from WII Fitness, an auxillary cord, the new IPhone 4 for Sprint and DVDS of my favorite black girls who rock from Beyonce LIVE AT ROSELAND, A Different World and Living Single
So Merry Christmas and I hope Santa is kind this year

VICTORIAS SECRET FASHION SHOW 2011

Last night was the Annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show probably the only televised fashion show that I look forward to every year. Sorry RIP the Runway...but the production value of this show is much greater. The theatrics, music, lightings and visuals are always right on point and tie each individual collection cohesively together with a big pretty pink bow that screammmmss Victoria Secret. Every year the show never fails to disappoint and this year was no different. The collections included Ballet, Superheroes, 1900's New Orleans, International Affair aka Passion, Aquatic Angels, and ended with Club Pink .Miranda Kerr was the lucky angel that wore the coveted 2 million dollar bra during the Aquatic Angels segment as a big clam shell. With performances by Kanye West, Maroon 5, Jay-Z and Nicki Minaj to keep the party perfectly moving along- this year was show stopping. Although I still believe that 2010 was the best show to date- the 2011 show is right behind.  Check out the looks I deemed my fave with sequins, beading and dramatic details of course...this show definitely makes me wanna hit the gym and the runway by next year
