FANCY FOOTWORK FRIDAY

Spring is upon us and its the time for mani's and pedi's so you can pull out that fierce footwear of sandals, flats and of course- a love of mine- the wedge. This season there is an offering of tantalizing teases to tickle your toes and in colors to make them curl. This season for me is all in the details....GIVE me height, texture, color and flair when you speak about fancy footwook this Spring and even Summer and these styles definitely fit the bill.

First Pierre Hardy- gives us color blocking to complete the casual cuteness style that Spring break brings

As featured in January 2011 Elle on Jessica Alba

Criss Cross Wedge- $240- Victoria's Secret.com

Colin Stuart Cross Tassel Sandal

And I have always been taken back by a bad ass classic T-strap also (COLIN STUART)

Enjoy your Spring Break ladies- and if you break the bank make sure its on a pair of stunning beauties such as these that will bring them to their knees and build your calves in the process!! ;) But ladies make sure your toes are looking tight before you head out day or night- don't just paint that big toe- give all the lil piggies some TLC- a pumice stone, some Nivea and avoid hot coals

THROWBACK THURSDAYS: TAKE THAT TAKE THAT

Its that time again for THROWBACK THURSDAYS: this week we bring out the fashions & the music of Biggie and Bad Boy. As many know this week, March 9th, 2011 marked the 11th year anniversary of the death of Christopher Wallace better known as "THE NOTORIOUS BIG" and I would be remissed if I did not pay homage to the style and influence that he and all of BAD BOY have had on music and fashion. WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE SONG BY BIGGIE & subsequently BAD BOY?

For pushing the style envelope alone I had to go with MO MONEY MO PROBLEMS:

Styled by June Ambrose who is my style goddess (I follow her on twitter lol ) which says alot cause I only follow those worth following- and directed by hip hop empresario- HYPE WILLIAMS this video definitely changed the game with all the bright colors. With her fashion savvy- June Ambrose influenced Bad Boy- initially Sean Diddy Puffy Puff Daddy Diddily Diddily Dee Combs to create the multi-million dollar brand of Sean John that now provides suits for the suave sophisticate of a man. He even continues to beat us over the head with the BAD BOY BRAND by creating t-shirts with brass and bold statements such as "NO B****A**NESS" & "VOTE OR DIE"...

BEFORE
AFTER

He was the first man of color outside of Tyson Beckford & Kanye West of course that I had seen rock the sheen of metallic so well from slate grey to gold and gave me the notion that my future husband will wear color during our nouveau nuptials. I don't know any other black man that works as hard as he does at marketing himself to appeal to the masses and I for one respect his hustle

Then there was Versace and Coogi- we won't even get started on how influential Biggie was rocking the Versace shades and Coogi Sweaters- to the point where every hood negro thought he had to have both to be considered a real thug. Anything that these men touched turned to gold.....

Ten years from now we'll still be on top
Yo, I thought I told you that we won't stop
Now whatcha gonna do when it's cool
bag a money much longer than yours
and a team much stronger than yours, violate me
this'll be your day, we don't play

I definitely look forward to where they will be all be 10 YEARS from now- when they are still on top. I hope to find longevity in my career and if not I damn sure wouldn't mind a piece of his pie

TOMFOOLERY TUESDAYS: TAKE A LOOK ITS IN A BOOK

So in true Spring form- its almost wedding season and love is in the air right- of the smell of strawberry air fresheners masking themselves as the smell of love....ehhh....either way this is supposed to be the season of warm feelings and even warmer weather- when birds are chirping and hearts are singing.....bull**** bull**** bull**** eff love and everybody that's in love- yep I'm a hater and I own it....

I digress-I really don't hate love-I love to be in love and I have loved very very few- try 2- but I appreciate the notion and even appreciate even more so those who have been blessed throughout life to experience such a feeling laced with lollipops and gumdrops because I thankfully sure have. Some say I have the spirit of the black Carrie Bradshaw and I have definitely dealt with a Mr. BIG in the past but no one that has thrown your girl over the threshold which btw I would appreciate a proposal of such in a size 41 Christian Louboutin Crystallized Stiletto. I've been loved by many people in life so much enough for me to let them go and for them to do the same for me. And there is no greater love than to recognize that it isn't what is or was what it was enough to let that person go and allow them to find what person they are worth falling for.

CHRISTIAN LOUBOUTIN CRYSTALLIZED IN SWAROVSKI $2395

You may ask- where is Domo going with this one and wtf does it have to do with TOMFOOLERY- well I tell you to wait for it...........wait for it......BOOM.  So many of us are quick to not recognize when something has ran its course and become TOMFOOLS ourselves enough to let go of what is not meant to be. I can say that because I have been foolish in the past to believe that if I become what someone wants me to be I can experience what others have and live in FAR AWAY LAND- happily ever after like Shrek and Fiona or Aladdin and Jasmine or even Ronnie and Sammy....no wait- forget the last one- cause then I might end up on Snapped..

But I felt inspired by another Facebooker today and her status "RELATIONSHIP101: GOING BACK TO AN EX IS LIKE RE-READING A BOOK..YOU ALREADY KNOW WHATS GOING TO HAPPEN #justathought"

And it really got me to thinking- how many times have we re-thought or re-read the books from our past. Some books were better than others, some were children's books cause they just couldn't grow up, fiction cause they were full of more s*** than a patrol horse trolloping down 6th street, non-fiction- written by my own accounts of bulls***, science fiction cause some of crap they did and said was out of this world, a few self-help novels cause my Lord knows you could only help your self dude and even those few short stories which were idiots that weren't even worth the time I took to read them or flip the pages.

You can always tell what kind of book you read by the timing in your life. If you were adventurous and spontaneously in college, or crushing in high school or post-grad and scoping these real world rats and ragamuffins for how "100% REAL" they are *cough bull**** cough*- the title always told the timing of your life. Was it "ONE FISH TWO FISH RED FISH BLUE FISH" cuz he had a roster that included a couple of your cousins and friends or "HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU" so self-explanatory especially for those collegiate girls and guys.

Then there were those few coffee table reads that just by the cover made you wanna pick them up and read only to learn that their pages were as blank as a check written by Bill Gates and Oprah for rent. And the few very few thick novels that were just too heavy & their pages were too worn cuz too many sisters had handled them and packed them around in their purses.

Lastly, the books in the back of the shelves that came with warnings :EXPLICIT CONTENT: no not those books but the ones that were the only 2 books that made you actually take a good look at yourself and what you had become- they were books that when you read them- they gave you self-reflection like none other and everytime you tried to put it down- you couldn't help but go back and read it again and again cause it never got old....until now...the 2 books that contained detail by detail and play by play and chapter by chapter of your life.

But what makes us the biggest fools is when we try to edit books and change the content. Don't get me wrong you can definitely write your own novel noting wants, needs and expectations and even pen your own happy ending but you will only have yourself to blame when your final copy is nothing like the manuscript.

We all have our foolish moments when we feel like we aren't on the SAME PAGE- be it the handbook entitled "COMMITMENT, TRUST, & UNDERSTANDING"..So before we all decide to box up all our books and sell them to Half-Price or even try a buyback for all my college kids- make sure you're done reading all of them and hold onto the classics like "GREAT EXPECTATIONS" & even "EAT, PRAY, LOVE" because those are definite must reads in my book club & should I and the authors of those ever meet we will definitely write a sequel with a foreword by LOVE

MAKE ME OVER MONDAYS

“Beauty is how you feel inside, and it reflects in your eyes. It is not something physical.” -Sophia Loren

So its Monday- and its time for SPRING which brings about fresh faces. Over the years I have found an appreciation for the fullness of my face. There were times of insecurity when I didn't appreciate the beauty of my face- from the roundness of my cheeks, my nose, my big eyes and full lips. When I stepped into self- love all of that went away and I found a love for my face. So during MAKE ME OVER MONDAYS- I will feature make up tips, products as well as self-motivation for making over your spirit as well.

Today's product feature is a nude lip- I have searched near and far for a great combo to create a nude lip and after this past week's fashion show where Miss Delmicia Williams of DIVA CREATIONS did a stupidly gorgeous job on my face I felt even more inspired to tackle this trend. Babbbbyyy look at those brows and the contouring of my cheeks- she's DOPE

All my friends know that I swear by Juicy Tubes by Lancome lip gloss for the past 4 years- because its thick and it last. I recently purchased a Juicy Tubes Puree in a Sweet Soy color and layered it atop #550 Sand- a Mineral Power Lipstick by Maybelline to achieve the nude color I was looking for

$16- at any Lancome counter

$6- at any drug store that carries Maybelline

Then for face- I have recently been using ExfolliKate by Kate Sommerville and it works stupid wonders. The enzymes make my face feel renewed extra clean and I wash day and night. The price is a bit steep considering it came from Neiman Marcus- but I received it as a gift- so a girl won't complain

$65 at Neiman Marcus

So enjoy these products and if you have anything you use, swear by or even hate for that matter- let me know!!

OF SOUL & SPIRIT SUNDAYS- FORGIVENESS OF YOURSELF IS KEY

So of course with today being Sunday- I had to reflect over my past week and how I allowed it to affect my soul and spirit and what actions if any were a reflection of Christ and what actions were not and of course like any human I teetered from side to side. But as Christians in God's eyes that's not acceptable. I have spent the past month and a half fasting and focusing on becoming a version of myself. Only to receive the test of self-discipline and although saddened I'm not ashamed to admit that I failed. I allowed my test of anger to push my limits and although I didn't lash out- I still felt a strong rush of emotion to and that is an issue that I deal with daily. I am not ashamed to admit it because I am work in progress and acknowledge where I USED to be and that I am no longer there. I ask that when then life is over God- accepts my works and forgives my ways

We at times will say that "so and so made me upset or they made me this way- but really evaluate that sentence. Who really made you in the first place....GOD...so if man did not make you- then man can not MAKE YOU- shake you or even break you for that matter. So forgive them forgive yourself and move on

I found myself upset at some important people in my life this week but even moreso upset with myself because I allowed their actions or lack there of to take me back to a place that I worked so hard to remove myself from. But I have always prided myself on my inability to become knocked down and stay down- a word I use often called RESILIENCY...and because I possess this- I chose to become a victim of Romans 3:23 which states "for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" but in that same breath I also find victory to rise above and to acknowledge when I have fallen and pick myself up with the hands of my Father and move forward. So I'm deciding today to forgive them forgive myself and move on

By far this week was the hardest for me of 2011 and its only March- but as I look back over my life and I think things over- ALL OF MY GOOD DAYS- outweigh my BAD DAYS- and how I could COMPLAIN-*cue Sis.Henry on the organ*..... but I won't because at the end of the day and the beginning of the day when I awaken with breath in my body and movement of my soul and spirit- GOD HAS STILL BEEN TOO GOOD TO ME- so I will forgive them- forgive myself and move on

So like everything else- I will overcome and after talks with trusted loved ones- I learned some valuable life lessons this week.

1. I'M NOT WHERE I WANNA BE BUT I'M ON THE PATH TO WHERE I'M GONNA BE
2. IF THINGS ARE ALWAYS GOING MY WAY THEN THEY CAN'T BE GOING GOD'S WAY
3.FORGIVE THEM FORGIVE MYSELF AND MOVE ON

Meaning God places situations in our lives to prepare us for spiritual warfare and if you aren't experiencing that you aren't experiencing Christ and therefore you are living a life that is not your own selfishly and destructively. But in the God we serve there is forgiveness and the power of healing of all hurt and this week I learned that there are still things that I need to heal from and that cannot be healed from alone.

So I thank God for another opportunity to make things right and even for technology because I was able to USTREAM the word even in my physical and mental anguish

I dedicate today's blog to my cousin- Danielle- I love you and can't thank you enough for your work through me. I have and will forgive them forgive myself and move on and I can't thank you enough little cousin for the lessons you have taught me

Imagine me
Loving what I see when the mirror looks at me cause I
I imagine me
In a place of no insecurities
And I'm finally happy cause
I imagine me

Letting go of all of the ones who hurt me
Cause they never did deserve me
Can you imagine me?
Saying no to thoughts that try to control me
Remembering all you told me
Lord, can you imagine me?
Over what my mama said
And healed from what my daddy did
And I wanna live and not read that page again

Imagine me, being free, trusting you totally finally I can...
Imagine me
I admit it was hard to see
You being in love with someone like me
But finally I can...
Imagine me

Pass me not, O gentle Savior,
Hear my humble cry;
While on others Thou art calling,
Do not pass me by.
Refrain:
Savior, Savior,
Hear my humble cry,
While on others Thou are calling,
Do not pass me by.
Let me at a throne of mercy
Find a sweet relief;
Kneeling there in deep contrition,
Help my unbelief.
